Every parent, once their child has any teeth, need to encourage their children to go to the dentist every 6 months or at least once per year. This can be difficult for parents as going to the dentist is daunting for a lot of people regardless of age. So, how can we encourage our children to go to the dentist?
The easiest way to encourage children to go to the dentist is to take them when we go. This helps to show them that going to the dentist is in fact ok. You can show them as the parent what they need to do, giving them support as they need it.
Some parents also decide to allow their children to have a little treat after their dentist visits. This helps their mind to connect going to the dentist with something good. Some dental practices also give children stickers or lolly pops after their visit to help create a friendly relationship with them.
